Hey, all.

It's been a LONG time, but after months away, I found myself wondering what some of my DA friends have been up to.

Sideshow Press has really taken off, and when I'm not teaching and hanging with the family, I'm illustrating and formatting books.  I love it, but it has greatly reduced my free time.  As a result, it became harder and harder for me to find time to frequent DA.  

I won't lie; I had about had it with this site when I walked away from it many months ago.  I respect everyone's opinion about what constitutes "art", and I also recognize and respect when younger DA members sign on to post their work, even if it is another Twilight fan pic. Heck, in my early teens, I probably would have posted a million pictures of Wolverine and Spider-Man.  However, some of the stuff I was seeing on this site made me want to puke (and you guys have all seen what I draw).  Teenage girls putting up cell-phone pics of themselves in various stages of undress.  Much older men encouraging said girls to take off more.  Creepy men posting up blurry cell phone pics of their crotches and even NAMING the pics like they had just produced the next "Mona Lisa". For years, I wondered why many of my artist friends giggled and declined when I asked them if they would join DA. Well, I started to figure it out. After one of my older, pics was pulled for violating the rules, I'd had it.  Don't get me wrong; I know that it really did go against their posted rules. However, I couldn't overlook the hypocrisy of them pulling a legitimate illustration for book (one that I'd like to think displayed a modicum of talent), yet letting a dude post grimy picks of his shriveled cock in a mirror.  Really?

Still, it's not a perfect world, and I'm content to stick to my little morbid corner and try to avoid the worthless smut and sad displays of human loneliness as I interact with those whose work I love...and have really missed.  I don't know how long I'll be active, but I have a funny feeling that although I may leave from time to time, I always end up stopping back to see what you all are up to.  DA may have more than it's fair share of crap, but it also has some amazing talent to showcase.
