Next year, Sideshow Press will be publishing a novella by Trever Palmer titled DIFFERENT SEASONS. Those of you who have read BLACK INK HORROR #1 will remember his story "Pussy Stink". Well, DIFFERENT SEASONS is a werewolf story told in the tradition of King's CYCLE OF THE WEREWOLF, but with Palmer's sexy, gory charm. As I've only drawn one werewolf in my three years of illustrating, I'm am stoked to be drawing for this.
This illo began as teaser art for advertisement for the upcoming novella (I'll post the ad later). However, it was coming out so well, that I turned it into the first illo for the book.
I'd like to offer a really original monster for this publication, so I've drawn copious sketches as I try to design a totally unique design. Last week I watched several werewolf movies (UNDERWORLD, HOWLING, SILVER BULLET, AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, GINGER SNAPS, MONSTER SQUAD, DOG SOLDIERS) to see what worked and what didn't. I'll likely post some of these concepts soon...
Anyhow, I tried to really merge the human and lupine features to create something, I hope, is a bit frightening. I can't wait to get to work on a full body shot...
