I recently scored a gig as "house artist" for a new publisher called Cargo Cult Press. One of my first assignments was to depict a "cargo cult" runway.
For those not familiar with cargo cults, they were groups of natives in the South Pacific that, upon seeing planes drop cargo to troops stationed on these islands, began worshipping the planes as gods. These natives would build their own runways, bamboo planes, and signal towers in the jungles in hopes of attracting one of these "gods" (read: planes) to their runway. If you're interested, look up cargo cults on the internet--it makes for some fascinating reading.

We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
